Matt 25:1-13
1 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 “Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent. 3 “For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. 5 “Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep. 6 “But at midnightthere was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ 7 “Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. 8 “The foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 “But the prudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 “And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut. 11 “Later the other virgins also came, saying, ‘ Lord, lord, open up for us.’ 12 “But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 ” Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.

- What spiritual principle(s) does this parable teach?
- The five foolish virgins appeared identically on the outside to the five wise virgins. The foolish virgins’ lamps made a nice show, but produced no light! In the end however, it doesn’t matter how others perceive us, but if we are truly ready to meet the Lord. His perception is always right and the only one that matters in eternity.
- It is far more important to be right with the Lord than to appear to others to be right with the Lord
- Jesus is coming back and will return at an unexpected time.
- Because it has been so long, it seems like Jesus is not coming back at all.
- Each day should be lived as if it were my last.
- The Holy Spirit cannot be shared. Each one must have his own relationship with the Lord.
- Everyone wants to enter the wedding feast.
- God ‘s gracious invitation will not last forever.
- The ways of the world are utterly foolish. It makes no sense to carry the lamp, but have no oil!

Why do you think God waits such a long time for Jesus to come back for His own?
–To demonstrate His patience
–All the elect must be saved
–He tries and tests the saints
How can we be ready for Jesus when He comes to take us to be with Him?

My name is Alan Finch. JESUS my Lord and Saviour in April of 1976.
What really stands out to me about the 10 virgins in the parable that JESUS gives in the 25th Chapter of Matthew , is the fact that these 10 virgins who are engaged to Christ are Believers in Christ. Only Believers in Christ can become engaged to Christ.
Once we have this understanding, then we then realize that this parable of JESUS is revealing to us that not All Christians will rule & reign with Christ.
The Scriptures paint a picture for us of Christ being the Bridegroom of His Church which is made up of Believers in Christ portrayed as virgins.
There are a number of truths to be uncovered in this parable. I will attempt to explain the main point of this parable that JESUS wants Believers in Christ to come to an understanding of.
These 10 virgins in this parable were “engaged” to Christ, the Bridegroom. Only virgins which in this parable are representative of Believers in Christ, are “engaged” to Christ.
At the end of this present Age, JESUS will return to marry in the Spirit, His Bride, which is representative of His Church, which is made up of Believers in Christ. The “engagement period” for ALL Believers in Christ, from ALL Ages, will finally have come to an end.
In this parable, 5 of the virgins that were “engaged” to Christ were faithfully prepared for His return, because not only did they know JESUS as their Saviour, but they knew JESUS as their Lord, because they had submitted themselves to His Lordship.
The other 5 virgins who were also “engaged” to Christ, were not faithfully prepared for the Lord’s return, because they only knew JESUS as their Saviour. They did not know JESUS as their Lord, because they never submitted themselves to His Lordship.
So, the underlying message of this parable is: JESUS wants Believers in Christ to come to the understanding that being “engaged” to Him does not guarantee our becoming married to Him in the Spirit at the end of this present Age.
It will only be the faithful “engaged” Believers in Christ who have prepared themselves for His return by their submission to His Lordship that will be married to JESUS in the Spirit at the end of this present Age. These will be the Believers in Christ who will rule & rein with Him.
The bottom line is that in this parable JESUS is declaring that the door WILL BE SHUT to Believers in Christ who do not come under His Lordship, which will result in them not being allowed to enter into the Kingdom of God in the next Age to rule & reign with Him. The DOOR WILL BE SHUT to these Believers in Christ. However, at some point and time, they will be allowed to enter the Kingdom of God, but they will not rule & reign with Christ.

I would like a copy of the other scriptures supporting the 10 virgins parable. I have a small Bible study group just starting, This is my first teaching in the Bible study.
As a believer that understands that a true believer cannot lose their salvation, I am in agreement with your assessment of the 10 virgins. As virgins, they would be considered saved, those who “ran out of oil” waiting also says they were saved as they had the Holy Spirit at one time. As scripture points throughout, that believers will be held accountable for their actions after belief and will be rewarded or shunned from rewards based on their obedience to God. Those who are the most obedient will be considered for positions in the 1,000 year reign and be apart of the wedding banquet, while those who only purchased “life insurance” and were idle throughout their relationship with Jesus, will be shut out and experience weeping and gnashing because of their loss of reward, but do not lose eternal salvation. This is my interpretation of the topic, but I know I will find out for sure in death or the rapture.
