Deuteronomy Bible Study Guide With Discussion Questions

Many people shy away from the Old Testament, especially books like Deuteronomy. They may think that it is archaic or has little to do with our life today. However, the book of Deuteronomy is rich. It is a series of sermons given by Moses to the people before they entered into the Promised Land. As such, it contains a summary of the key sections of the law as well as reminders for the people to obey the Lord.

Deuteronomy is often quoted in the New Testament. It formed the foundation for the faith and practice of Jews during the time of Jesus. Important themes in this book include God’s justice, the Ten Commandments, family values, and the blessings of obedience compared to the consequences of disobedience. Deuteronomy 6 contains one of the most important Biblical passages on family. Perhaps most importantly, this book points us to Christ, who is the ultimate fulfillment of the law.
